This is the day, where we start to not remember what day it is. Since our week started off so crazy on Monday, the Purple Team is in desperate need of sleep. We don't look too bad for Day 4!
So I found out Tim had a COLD bottle of coca-cola. So I searched and found some small cups. That at least got my carbs in early. Didn't want to have any pass out episodes today! Tim lives in Huntsville, Alabama and converted to the Purple Team yesterday. He is going to PA school after finishing college in 7-years. He changed majors 5 times! Go Tim!
Again, can you tell we have fun! Allison is into working and not playing around. Glad we made her the leader of the pack with the pharmacy team.
Today we had a Ecuadorian dentist with us. He didn't have a light, so we McIver-ed it. Threw it over a light cable going across the room. It wasn't as interesting as last years dental students, but there were teeth pulled.
This crowd was good too. No riot action!
Again, pharmacy was in the back of the room. The pharmacy needs to be in the front, by the door and a breeze becauses its the last stop before they leave. For some reason, Brad keeps putting us in the back AND on a stage!
But we will make it work, no matter what. Allison, again, kept cranking out scripts and getting them right too. Amazing. Diane and I just filled in on other things, but Allison kept up and Chris was quite impressed.
We did manage to get out and walk to the end of the road to see what else was around. I think the chicken you see is dinner tonight, but I'm not sure.....
We were blessed almost each day to be inside a school or church that had 4 walls, however, with the pharmacy being in the back of the room, there was NO air movement. Luckily today we had electricity and there were fans, but it didn't move much air! We took turns sitting in front!
We saw a total of 271 patients today! Not too shabby Purple Team!
As we wrapped up each day, we showered ourselves with hand sanitizer! Today we decided to drink some! Obviously, I let Will go first! He's still standing so I figured it was my turn!
Even though we had a good day, all of us were pretty much delirious. Our sentences became shorter as the day went on, and looking back after we were done, we probably couldn't tell you what we had actually seen that day. Monday was taking its toll on all of us!
Most of the areas we go into all look the same. Some have power lines, which is interesting. There is no sewer system, no running water, no sanitation department, but power lines. One house we passed had a color tv. No windows and a curtain for a door, but a color tv.
Each day on the ride back to the hotel more and more people seemed to sleep. Didn't matter how long our ride was or how bumpy, we were too tired! Bob is helping Chris stay upright today!
Allison never slept on any bus ride except the Monday morning 0400, so today on the ride back she noticed the fruit stand with the baby in the swing underneath. It was actually swinging when we passed it!
Finally got back to the hotel and needed to run to the store. Coffee and chocolate, ya know. Showered and changed within 15 minutes and ready to go. We had time to do that, dinner and the Lighthouse!
As we are walking to the grocery store, we passed the double-decker sight-seeing bus. Never knew they had one in Ecuador. Maybe we should do this?
Back from the store and heading to dinner. Our elevator game, every year. This year our goal was 10 people. We tested it out with 8 and had plenty of room for more. Im sure we can get 10 in here!
The Cherine factor has now turned into the 'tripping' factor. Cherine tends to 'trip' no matter where we go. So off to dinner by cutting through the terrace led us down approximately 15 steps. Cherine completely misses the last step. Allison busts out laughing. Had to get a picture!
Finally sitting at dinner, Cherine is showing her two-finger texting technique. I had to get a photo as she has stepped up her techno game since this time last year. And Scott would be very proud of her.
Done with dinner, to the Lighthouse we go! Step #1
Step #100.....can't you just see the excitement?
Half-way there and stop for a break!
Last landing before the last run of steps to the top. This is about Step #374.
Yes...finally! Step #444. We made it!
Allison couldn't wait to take a break! Its great up here, great breeze and at night you can see all the lights.
What? More steps? Yep, you still have to climb steps to get to the top of the Lighthouse! And that isn't included in the 444 we just did.
Heres the view from on top of the Lighthouse looking at the landing were the 444 steps puts you.
Cherine and Allison not wanting a 'normal' picture!
Brad, Me and Dwayne totally not ready for ANY picture!
All the gang that did the Lighthouse trip tonight! What a crew! Even though we are all split up on different medical teams. We get to catch up every night!
