2nd trip to the Fair

The last day of the NC State Fair and we have over 2 books of tickets left so we headed back around 1600. We wanted to watch the Fireworks from Chris' house and didn't want to fight traffic later so we decided to go later in the day. I do try and try with Chris, but he never seems to get the message. 1st stop is ALWAYS the Mini-Doughnut lady...I am so in love with her! Well, her mini-doughnuts! They are sooooo good! Hot and covered in sugar and cinnamon..yum yum. Again, maybe Pam will remember that and again, pack up and move South!
We headed to the big Ferris Wheel and I think thats the only ride that Allison rode. Lauren pretty much used the rest of the tickets!
Lauren loves this ride! We were buckled in waiting on it to lift us up. It gets pretty high and you can see everything around you.
Pretty cool huh? My shoes are on the right if you had any question. It goes around pretty fast so you can't really get a crisp picture!

The girls did find hats that they liked. We can't seem to figure out what Allison's hat is....we have guesses of Pirana, alligator.....we just can't figure it out.
But Lauren didn't hesitate on the Sponge Bob hat....its totally HER!
Pretty colors......all the bright lights....could probably make someone have a seizure!
We did have fun, riding rides, eating and not being so crowded that we can't breathe. That was surprising since it was the last day of the Fair.
Even though its not crisp and clear...Lauren is laughing with me! Yeah...I did something right!
I did get this picture, I think which was from the Ferris Wheel...not sure, but I think so!
Total family portrait! I think Emilee would be proud!
Not sure how I missed this food stop! This of course was after Mark, Tres and Evan all placed orders for sausage dogs, funnel cakes, caramel apples, etc. And yes, I actually delivered them to work after the Fireworks. Can someone put that in my PMG?
We actually cut back through kiddie land and saw this! Too funny! Its called the Hamster Walk. Huge bubbles they fill with air and stick a kid in there....they can then crawl around and never sink! That would be a fun 'team' activity.

We headed out to Chris' to watch the fireworks which are great from his backyard! Except that one tree....but I think hes working on that! I really do love him. Why can't he see that? Why can't things go back to the happiness it was? I keep hoping. Maybe one day!

Its time for the FAIR- and of course, the Mini-Doughnut lady!

The first stop every year is always the Mini-Doughnut lady! If you have ever had one, you would know why. I will never forget the first time I introduced Pam to mini-doughnuts at the Mall of America! And now, of course, she is hooked too! I really need one of these mini-doughnut makers in my kitchen!

This years 'new' fad was the Krispy Kreme Burger! I had seen pictures and heard people talk about it, but we ended up passing it! It really didn't look that appetizing! Then later, I found out that its not a beef burger! So NOW its definately out! Who eats a burger thats not beef? Calories: 1500. Weight Watchers points: 30 (rumor has it that you only get 20 WW points a day).

We walked through the buildings where all the awarded items were in hopes of finding the apple lady Allison likes so much! These apples are amazing and there are so many to choose from. Allison ends up getting the apple with white chocolate, peanut butter chips and marshmallow creme. I can't remember the name of it, but they are awesome!
It is definately the fried Capital of the State during the NC State Fair. You can just about get anything fried. You name it, they probably have it.

Point of location is always measured from the Ostrich!
Diane and I had a blast! The crowds weren't too bad until after 1230, then it got crowded quick. I end up pulling the girls out of school, but this time it ended up being on a Friday, which I will probably not do again. It got too croweded to quick.
Thinking of Christina, of course!
Yep, thats where we are going! Everyone has to love the Ferris Wheel!

Even Allison likes the Ferris Wheel, although she would never admit it!

Don't smile Allison, Im sure your face would crack! And we definately wouldn't want anyone to know that you were having fun with your Mom!
Thats a long way down!

I think I see these people every day at work...sometimes even as patients!

Allison trying her apple. She couldn't wait to get home!

Theres the Allison everyone knows....Don't smile....but at least her tongue isn't sticking out!
Allison then decided she was hungry and stopped for her favorite Fair food....CORNDOGS! Although, this one was horrible! We threw the breading away and she ate the hotdog part of it! It was cold despite being under a heat lamp! Won't buy it from them again!
Turkey legs...not sure what they feed these turkeys but Ill take a whole turkey! I probably couldn't even fit it in my oven! They are H-U-G-E!

Even vegetables are FRIED! I told you everything....I mean everything!

Then it was time for Lauren's favorite....Fried Oreos! They are actually pretty good, but very sweet!
High Schools from all over the state submitted entries into the 'recycled' catagory. You have to design and make something from 100% recyclables. GMHS's entry was this Armadillo made from recycled tires! It was the best! As a matter of fact I need him in my yard!

Lauren and the best fries at the Fair....Al's Fries! Yum Yum!

864 pound Blue Ribbon pumpkin...Wow! We can sure grow 'em here, huh?

This is Apex High School's entry! Pigs do fly in NC!

Looks like my sister! I do see the resemblance....

Yep, we even fry desserts!

Everything....remember I said...everything.....

Yep, Allison is smiling and everything...too bad she won't turn around so you can see it for yourself!
This one is for Shawn....always thinking of you! He said 'you're not going to post this to YouTube are you?"...I said...'No, just facebook!"

Then it was tattoo time! Lauren took forever to figure out what she wanted! An elephant was the choice for this year! I wanted the one that said 'Porn' with a star shape...the kids didn't think that was funny!
Allison wanted a skull.....so she got a tramp stamp! 14 year old style!

And last but not least, before we go....NC State Ice Cream...the absolute best ice cream...the line was long but moved quickly and was well worth it!
Because it got so crowded so quickly, we had ride tickets left. I decided I would bring the kids back on Sunday to finish up and we could also watch the fireworks again! Great day!

Emergency Services Week

Every year we celebrate Emergency Services Week instead of Emergency Nurses Week. Vicky took this year 'over the top'. Vicky had arranged for something every single day for 7 days for both AM and PM shifts. Food was brought in every day and Vicky's enthusiam really rolled over onto the staff.

We really didn't plan the 'black out' but we ended up wearing black and we were testing out the camera in their office! Not too bad for placing it on the shelf!

Vicky put together a Music quiz where everyone submitted their 'favorite' artist. Then everyone had to guess who was who's. Some people were cheating: Nathan...Lori.....Courtney! Anyways...everyone KNOWS who my favorite artist is! Who else would I spend $$ on and travel to 6 different venues to see?

Once the week was done and Vicky matched up the artist to the staff, it was fun to see who liked who. Ann-Marie Monday and Vanilla Ice? Really? or PJ and the Spice Girls?
We did have Red from Red Robin come in for lunch one day! That was pretty fun! Im not quite so sure Red was ready for a trip to the ER.

Red wasn't feeling well. We placed him in Room 3 for rest.....yeah...rest! We did think that maybe putting 360 joules through him would 'light him up a bit', but he seemed to come around after we suggested that.

Jessica was so emotional in trying to resusitate Red. It was exhausting....
Nathan was totally into the mouth-to-beak breathing that was required as Respiratory didn't have a mask big enough...Nathan on the other hand, didn't have a problem!
After a few rounds of high-quality CPR and some excellent breaths, Red was back to life!

Im not quite sure Red will be back.....The staff had a fun week and it takes away from the chaos that ensues daily. We do try to get fun in when we can...just as long as the patients/visitors don't see it!

Yep, we had to get some picture that Vicky didn't know about before she actually uploaded stuff.....oh well.... Back to work...another day in the ER! I do love the staff!
